I Lead with Empathy
As someone who has grown to be a confident leader in and out of the classroom, I believe that empathy is the key to success. Empathy for not only the end user but also my design team brings better communication and successful designs.
"Leaders eat last", the title of the book by Simon Sinek, has been my guiding statement as a designer, classmate, and friend.

Design impacts lives
I love design because of its ability to be a tool to foster connections with those around you. I find that my projects often incorporate community building, whether it be the focus of the design, connecting with my design team, or using the project as a conversation topic with my mentors.

Rise Against Hunger
In my free time, I often stay busy by participating in philanthropic endeavors, such as engaging in volunteer events or giving my time to student organizations where I dedicate myself to giving networking and learning opportunities to other students.

Constantly Learning
I am a passionate life-long learner. Learning new skills and new experiences are a priority in my life. Recently, salsa dancing has been a new endeavor to connect with my Colombian heritage.
In my downtime, I love spending my time expanding my world view and design knowledge through books. Some of my favorite books include "1984" by George Orwell and "Just enough research" by Erika Hall.
